COMING TO THE DESERT!

On Saturday, November 13, just around the bend, paddlers will flock to one of the hot spots of paddling—Parker, Arizona—for a day of racing filled with competition, camaraderie, and a little after-race celebration.

Located near Parker Dam, this popular event has earned the name, “Another Dam Race,” or ADR. But it is not just another race. ADR has become a highlight of the year for more than ten years, right after a brisling hot summer and just before the cool of winter envelopes the desert.

Top paddlers and teams from Southern California, Arizona, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, New Mexico, Texas, and as far away as Hawaii will descend upon this oasis, set in a picturesque landscape on the border of California and Arizona, as paddlers will test the waters of the pristine Colorado River.

Three hundred and fifty paddlers… and counting.

“There will be 350 paddles in the water,” says ADR co-founder and director John Burns, “with more than 150 entrants.” That number will likely rise, as several clubs have yet to officially enter. Throngs of onlookers will also line the course and cheer the paddlers on, in a race day that could not succeed without the help of many generous companies.
